Mounting the monitor, the wall bracket and (optional) the mirror

Direct Reading

For direct reading, the 3D monitor is mounted on the wall opposite the patient at eye level. The refraction distance is measured from the patient's head to the 3D monitor. If the 3D monitor is installed at eye level – as shown in the image, no tilting is necessary.

Mirror Reading

The 3D monitor is arranged at a short distance above the patient's head and tilted slightly downward, with the mirror mounted at the eye level of the patient. The tilt angle of the mirror relates to the tilt of the 3D monitor, but is the inverse and should correspond to approximately half of the angle (e.g. 3D monitor = 10° downward tilt, mirror = 5° upward tilt). The system is adjusted correctly if the extinction is nearly 100% when viewed on the 3D monitor through the mirror from the refraction chair. The refraction distance is measured from the patient's head to the mirror and from the mirror to the 3D monitor. This distance should also be specified in the application settings.

Correct alignment of the 3D monitor with the mirror and the most accurate measurement of the refraction distance are essential for precise refraction.

Apple TV settings

Apple TV settings

Unpack the Apple TV, plug in power cable on the back and plug it into the power socket. Insert the HDMI cable included into the right port of the Apple TV.

The other end of the HDMI cable is to be connected to the 3D monitor. The connections for this can be found on the left-hand side of the device (as seen from the front). The cable can be connected to HDMI1, HDMI2 or HDMI3.

Should the Apple TV's start screen not appear automatically on the 3D monitor, you can manually select the HDMI port from the 3D monitor's remote control.

Set up Apple TV

As soon as the start screen of the Apple TV appears, the configuration/settings can be done using the small black remote control.

Network connection

The connection to the network is made via the setup menu of the Apple TV. Select the following process to register the Apple TV in the network:
Settings → Network → Wi-Fi.
All available networks are shown here. Please select the corresponding network. A password may be necessary, which is also to be entered using the remote control. As soon as the connection to the network has been established, select 'OK'.

If the connection fails, please take note of the description below the error message. This is mostly caused by an incorrect password or a weak Wi-Fi connection.

Finally, press the “MENU” button to return to the start page of the setup menu.

Sleep mode off

The sleep mode can be found under:
Settings → General → Sleep after
Set this option to “Never” so the Apple TV does not switch off automatically. Press the “MENU” button on the remote control to return to the start page of the Apple TV.

Screensaver off

The screensaver settings can be found at:
Settings → General → Screensaver → Start After
Set this option to “Never”, so that the running PASKAL 3D app is not superimposed by the screen-saver and switched to stand-by.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth

In the “Settings”, you will find the “Wi-Fi” tab at the top left. After opening, switch the Wi-Fi on and select the same Wi-Fi network as for the Apple TV. A password entry request for the network may appear again.

In the “Settings” of the iPad, you can also find the tab “Bluetooth” in the upper left corner. After opening, turn on the Bluetooth switch. Now you can return to the home screen of the iPad.

Alternatively, the two functions can be activated via the quick-start bar. In order to open the start bar, swipe upwards from the bottom edge of the screen. There, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth can be turned on and off by clicking on the icons displayed.

However, the selection of a certain Wi-Fi network must be done via the “Settings”.

Auto-Lock off

On the iPad under “Settings”, you find the tab “Display & Brightness” in the middle left. After clicking, set the “Auto-Lock” to “Never” on the right side.

Download PASKAL 3D for iPad and Apple TV

Download PASKAL 3D for iPad and Apple TV

On the Apple TV, the same Apple ID must be used as on the iPad, so the PASKAL 3D app does not have to be paid twice:

In order to download the PASKAL 3D app, open the "App Store" on the Apple iPad and enter 'PASKAL 3D Experience-Refraction' in the search field on the top right:

In order to buy the app for "£20.99" respectively "€ 23,99", please select and buy it using the blue button on the right next to the app icon. The purchase price is refunded upon purchasing a licence. As soon as the download and the installation have completed, the PASKAL 3D icon appears on the home screen of the iPad.

Apple TV

On the start page of the Apple TV go to the “App Store” and type "PASKAL 3D Experience-Refraction" into the search field. Click on the app found to install.

After installing the app, it will appear on the start page. Open the app by clicking. The PASKAL 3D start screen is displayed with a "Start tests" button. This button disappears as soon as the PASKAL 3D license has been transferred from the iPad to the Apple TV.

Purchase licence and activate app

Purchase licence and activate app

The first four sight tests are included in the purchased app. In order to be able to use fully all tests and functions, please contact IPRO GmbH and purchase the necessary licence with the access data.

The registration process begins by launching the PASKAL 3D app on the Apple TV first. After that the app is started on the iPad.

To activate all tests, select the "Settings" option on the start page of the app on the iPad. There, select the "Registration" tab.

Now you will need your access data, which you should enter into the corresponding fields.

After entering the IPRO access data at "User name" and "Password", the license has to be transferred to the Apple TV. Make sure that the PASKAL 3D app is also installed and running on the Apple TV. If this is the case, the license is now transferred from the iPad to the Apple TV by clicking the "Register on Apple TV" button:

As soon as the registration process is completed, you will receive a message on the Apple TV about the successful registration. Should no licence have been purchased, then the activation cannot be successfully completed.

The incorrect entry of a user name or password also leads to an error, which can be resolved by entering it again.

As soon as the activation has been successfully completed, the app can be fully used. In order to ensure a correct display of the optical test objects, the app must be adjusted to the conditions of the refraction room. This can be done via "Settings".

Under "Distance", the distance between the customer and TV is entered. If the direct distance is less than 4 metres (4.37 yd), a mirror reading is necessary:

In addition to the distance, the screen size of the 3D monitor must be entered in inches by clicking on the tab “Size/Resolution”:

Use the remote to access the TV 'Settings' and then 'Advanced'.

The picture mode must be set to 'Standard', the aspect ratio to "Just Scan" and Energy Saving should be switched off.

Then select the Picture Mode Settings and set sharpness to 0.

Now please switch to 'General' in the left menubar and switch the Eco Mode to 'Off'.

Finally please check the Home/Store Mode. It has to be set to 'Home Mode'.

Please note that the settings will eventually have to be repeated if there is an extended disconnection from the power grid. According to the information from manufacturer LG, the standby function is the best for a long service life of the TV.
